The best option would be to ask around to see if the sites are good and the best places are internet marketing forums such as DP forum for example. Also, if there is no joining fee than the site is most probably legit and you will be OK.

I personally dont believe in Data entry jobs online.But you can earn through Google Adsense program, By joining as a affiliate for other products, Or by writing a ebook,If you have a great idea to share.
Apart from these legitimate ways,I dont see any other way’s that stayed for long and payed correctly.Every time you see a adv in online stating that they have a ebook which shows how to make money,and you buy that for some $49, what they do? They just simply recreate the info which is available free in the net.
He actually sold his product for $49 and you were scammed.90% of the people are scammed in this way.So you wanna make money, always go with the reputed ones.
Google Adsense is the most trusted one.And If you have strong interest in some specific products in the online,create a webpage and promote that product.If someone buys that product from your refereal, you get commission even upto 80%.
Or write a ebook about the expertise you possess.Then make your ebook sell in ebay or Amazon.
