Consolidation in the insurance BPO services provider landscape is expected in more than one direction. The larger BPO vendors are aggressively buying out smaller, niche providers to gain scale, clients and expertise in the insurance domain. Larger providers are also entering innovative arrangements with insurance carriers to buy out and manage their back-office transaction processing units.



Further, a new stream of consolidation is likely to be a growing reality, although it may appear far-fetched right now. Third party administrators or TPAs who will be increasingly threatened by competitive pressures may buy out smaller BPO vendors, especially offshore ones, to build a presence at a low-cost base like India. On the other hand, some of the large third party providers are likely to buy out TPAs, for on-shore presence, client access and domain knowledge.



A report by Pune-based ValueNotes suggests that insurance offshoring (BPO) to India is likely to grow at 30 percent CAGR over the next three years. India’s revenues are estimated to grow from $690 million currently, to around $2 billion by 2010. Driven by the need to reduce costs, differentiate products in an increasingly competitive environment, and ensure regulatory compliance, offshoring will be a growing imperative for the global insurance industry.



According to the report “Insurance Outsourcing: India Gains Momentum As Offshoring Intensifies – Trends, Insights and Key Vendor Profiles”, the large established offshore BPO vendors in India are expected to gain the most, as they will be able to demonstrate the ability to manage scale, and offer services across the value chain to global customers. “By FY2010”, says Arun Jethmalani, CEO of ValueNotes, “a large number of Indian vendors will have evolved into mature, end-to-end service providers, competing with multinational outsourcing companies”. Players like Genpact, WNS and EXL Services, as well as BPO offshoots of IT companies like IBM, TCS, Infosys (Progeon) and Wipro will emerge as formidable global players in the next few years.



Arpita Bedekar, analyst at ValueNotes, expects “greater offshoring of high-end, higher-value services like analytics, actuaries and underwriting to push average billing rates in offshore insurance BPO upwards by more than 25 percent in the next two to three years”.

There are so many ways to make money online, where do you start?

When it comes to trying to make money online, it was extremely hard to figure out the best route to pursue.  There are so many different options to choose from and so many different reviews to read online, that it made it tough to figure out what road to take.  How do you figure out which ones actually work?  When I became 46 years old, I was bound and determined to quit my job and make money online.  Most of us dream about working from home and not having to punch a clock, or not having to answer to some boss.  But most of us aren’t willing to do what it takes to pursue our dreams.  I know that money isn’t everything in life; happiness is the most important to me.  I will say though, it helps to have a little extra cash when your kids start going to college.  And I also believe that it is very important to build your net worth!

One way to try and make money online is to have your own website.  Sounds like a great idea, doesn’t it?  Well if you’re like me, I didn’t have a clue on how to build a website or what to do to make it successful.  But like I said earlier, I was determined to make money online.  I didn’t know anything about HTML, search engine optimization, website hosting companies, Google Adsense or Adwords, Meta keywords, just to name a few things that go along with a website.

The first thing that I thought of was to go out and hire a marketing firm to help me, and believe me; there are thousands to choose from.  There not cheap either!  They’re going to tell you things like you can make a thousand dollars in your first month.  They’ll act like making money online is so easy and simple.  To work from home and make money online only takes 10 to 15 hours a week.  They don’t tell you about hiring someone to do your business taxes.  They don’t tell you about incorporating your business and the costs associated with that.  And you might want to go out and hire a lawyer to take care of the legal matters.

Running a website is a way to start to work from home, but it takes persistence.  Don’t expect to start to make money online right away because getting traffic to your site takes a lot of time.  You have to do many different things to get people to visit your site.  You have to write articles, blogs and add your site to a lot of different directories, just to name a few.  I’m not trying to discourage anyone from starting their own website; I’m just trying to inform you on what it takes to run a website.  If this is your dream, then by all means, go for it!  

I still feel that paid surveys is an easy way to start to work from home and make money online.  It is something you can do when you feel like it.  You can do 1 survey a week or 10 surveys a week; it’s all up to you.   Whatever you decide to do, I wish you all the luck in the world to succeed.  Follow your heart; it will always lead you down the right path!

Preparing lists



Anything that involves placing written communication into a database requires data entry. Online data entry jobs might require compiling a list of names and addresses from a rebate form filled out by hundreds or thousands of consumers. This sort of work would be fairly routine, with the only difficulty in reading poor or illegible handwriting. Rebates or refund lists, contact lists filled out at a trade fair booth, voting registration information–these are the types of list preparation jobs that a person might accept. If a high degree of accuracy is needed, then the list can be compiled by two different people and then a merge file is created that points out discrepancies.



Secretarial type typing and editing



Another type of the online data entry jobs is that of typing letters, reports and memos. This can be done directly online, such as with an email correspondence. It may also be carried out from audio or video dictation or podcasts. Secretarial data entry requires a much higher attention to details and accuracy. It is expected that the data entry person serving in a secretarial role will be able to accurately spell and punctuate the words used. As with other types of data entry jobs editing, rewriting and correcting another’s work is another type of editing or revision work.



Catalog descriptions



A more specialized type of online data entry jobs have to do with catalog creating. Whether you are writing about books or shoes, a person who can express tidbits of information in an otherwise dull and boring presentation will be successful. Granted, some products are more difficult to bring to life than others. The data entry person in this instance may work by the description, or by a certain number of words in the item. It can be grueling work to try to think of many different ways to describe a particular item so that it appears different from another place of very similar design.

Blogging – There are many bloggers such as John Chow who regularly make $20,000 a month or more from their blogs. You have to be able to blog in a way that will get visitors coming back, reading your blog, and ultimately buying products you recommend. That is how you would make your money. That and ad revenue from sites such as google adwords. You can start a free blog with blogger or wordpress.

Photos – Just like the article writing sites, the video sites and the social networking sites, there are photo sites that will share revenue with you for uploading photos. A few of these sites are Spymedia and Scoopt.

Private Label Rights – Using private label rights products is a great way to make some quick cash online.
